I am very fond of this style of Advent Calendar with its illustrative nature. The artist has taken some liberties in placing the Nativity scene in a snowy village with a medieval feel to it. Its a joyous scene with the Wisemen and villagers bringing gifts to the new born child. You can imagine their excitement from the way they are drawn and placed in the picture. I especially like the border on the calendar and the way the Wisemans robe flows over it as though he were walking from our world to theirs.
Your children will probably just comment on the pony and wonder what the girl sees in the basket. Look at it as you will it remains quite beautiful.
