Oaxacan Wood Carvings Specialty Pieces
These carvings are what one could call Gallery pieces as they are larger, more complicated, and simply a higher level of work than our normal pieces listed in the other pages in the menu to the left under Wood Carvings Oaxacan.
We are delighted to be able to offer these unique sculptures. It is our hope to expand this section as there are a number of wonderful artists that we would like to show work of. Do check back monthly as we update our offerings.

Artist Demetrio Cortes
The ants are in for a shock with is wonderful piece. Very imaginative carving with broad legs and tail. Not what you would expect and the more delightful for that. An animal of your dreams.

The curves and motion of this piece cannot be improved upon. It is quite the largest piece we have offered and is gracing our sideboard till he gets packed away for shipping. He like the polar bear I love is an exceptional work of art.
He is by the Cortes family and stands 25 inches high by 24 inches long.

Please look at the large photo to see the great painting and detail of this piece. Being 17 1/2 inches high he has a presence that a photo simply can't capture. My importer had a twin piece to this that he wouldn't part with that was even more complicated as a carving. He like me needs a larger house to keep his own collection in.
The colors are bright and the fluid carving quite remarkable. He is 17 1/2 inches tall by 13 inches wide by almost 20 inches long and made by the Cortes family.
